Google TV To be Replaced With Android TV
According to a recent report by GigaOM, has learned that Google will change the name of their TV platform to Android TV, this has yet to be confirmed by Google.

Some of Google’s partners on Google TV, have already dropped the Google TV brand name, Sony announced their latest Google TV device back in September, and the release didn’t mention Google TV, instead the device was called the Bravia Smart Stick with Google services.
It looks like other manufacturers are going to follow suit as well, and it makes sense for Google to drop the Google TV brand in favor of Android.

After all Google is seen as a brand, whilst Android is seen as a platform, so manufacturers are much more likely to want to use the ‘Android’ brand with their devices, it also ties in better with their smartphones and tablets.

It will be interesting to see if the brand change from Google TV to Android TV has any impact on the adoption of the platform, and whet
her this will help manufacturers to increase sales of these Android powered set to boxes.
