Apple iPhone 5S Outsells Samsung In October, a Report Says

Apple iPhone 5S became the top-selling smartphone for the third consecutive month in the US. According to a new research by the folks at CounterPoint Research, Apple’s latest iPhone 5S also topped the smartphone sales for the month of October globally, beating Samsung’s Galaxy S4, which currently resides at the third spot. The second spot is captured by last year’s iPhone 5, which not being sold officially by Apple and is being sold through unofficial channels.

Actually, it’s not very surprising to see Samsung’s flagship device on number three. Samsung Galaxy S4 launched in various parts of the globe earlier this year, with Apple launching its forward-thinking iPhone 5S after six months. So, there’s no surprise in it if it’s outselling Samsung. Whenever any of the two manufacturers launch a new handset, they usually top the charts. The fact here is that both manufacturers are on top worldwide followed by other manufacturers.
According to Counterpoint’s Monthly Market Pulse report for October 2013, Apple’s iPhone 5s continued to be the bestselling phone globally during October. iPhone 5s sales saw an upward sales momentum as Apple continued expansive roll-out for its flagship model thus further widening the gap with its arch rival’s flagship model Samsung’s Galaxy S4. Apple’s iPhone 5s topped the best-seller’s list despite the component shortages causing long waiting periods in several channels. However, we expect supply constraints to ease resulting in supply to meet a relatively stronger demand in November & December.
Interestingly, Apple iPhone 5S has faced supply shortages after its launch in various parts of the globe. Despite that, it managed to take the first place in the worldwide smartphone sales data collected by the folks at CounterPoint research, after surveying 33 countries globally, according to Slashgear. The supply shortages for iPhone 5S are taken care of, and the device reached 100 percent availability especially in the US, with the shipping times improved to 24 hours in the US and several other countries.

 Apple’s colorful iPhone 5C is at the fourth spot followed by Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy SIII at fifth and sixth spot, respectively. It’s also interesting to see that Nokia is in the list as well with its entry-level Nokia 105 and Nokia Asha 501 at 8th and 10th place with Galaxy SIII mini on 9th.
