Last week, Microsoft pulled the Surface Pro 2 software update as it was causing several problems for the owners of the devices, including poor battery life, failed installations, and more. At that time, Microsoft mentioned an alternative update package will be released after the holidays which will fix the bugs users are experiencing on their Surface Pro 2. It seems the update might come out earlier than expected, and could launch in the next few days.
The news came from Paul Thurrot of WinSuperSite who received a word from Microsoft,

The news came from Paul Thurrot of WinSuperSite who received a word from Microsoft,
“To ensure the best experience for our customers, we have taken steps to remove the update for Surface Pro 2 that was previously published through Windows Update on December 10th, 2013. We are working to release an alternative update package as soon as possible.”Well, focus on ‘as soon as possible’, it seems to be much more convincing than after the holidays. It appears Microsoft is working on the new update, fixing all the reported errors and testing them appropriately before releasing it for the public. The statement doesn’t mention any exact date, but it’s still good to see that Microsoft is caring for their Surface owners.
We’ll update you as soon as the update rolls out.
