Verizon Nokia Lumia 929 Launch Delayed (Rumor)

We have bad news for all of you out there who were waiting for the Nokia Lumia 929 aka Lumia Icon to hit Verizon shelves. According to a new report, Verizon Nokia Lumia 929 is not going to launch any time soon, at least not in December as rumored before. The rumor mentions it will launch sometime around late January or early February, just before Mobile World Congress 2014 kicks off.
Verizon Nokia Lumia 929 Launch Delayed (Rumor)
The news came from one of the trusted sources of the folks at NokiaPowerUser, a site with a decent track record when it comes to Nokia-related rumors and news. Verizon is trying to delay the launch of the handset so they can directly strike a deal with Microsoft, rather than Nokia. As a result, Verizon may have to wait until February or so for the merger to complete. Microsoft is expected to completely take over Nokia’s devices division by Q1 2014.

The rumor also suggest that Mobile World Congress 2014 will be the event where we might get a glimpse Microsoft-branded Lumia devices, not Nokia. There are so many rumors going on all over the internet about the launch of the handset, I’m beginning to feel the hype will die before we get to see the Nokia Lumia 929. Samsung, along with many other manufacturers, are expected to unveil more flagship devices at the MWC 2014, and I think users will shift their focus from Lumia 929 to other devices.

What do you think?
